LET YOUR STUDENTS CHOOSE AN ACTIVITY TO DO DURING RECESS!

This colorful Recess Activity- Exit Check Poster was created to give your students an opportunity to purposely identify and later participate in a physical activity when they go outside for recess. Students simply touch one of the activities on the visual as the exit PE class. The act of touching the activity will help ensure that the recess activity will be completed later during the day or on another day during the week.

SHAPE America Standard 5 states that the physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. This Recess Activity Exit Check visual has a direct correlation to Standard 5 by giving students the chance to indicate a physical activity that they might enjoy doing at school outside the PE setting.

The poster can also “spark” a conversation with students about the vast ways we as physical educators want them to “MOVE THEIR BODIES” outside of PE class. The examples, in the poster, were used to compliment the SHAPE standards and the graphics are fun for students to look at! The PDF file includes 5 different header colors to match your school’s gym colors or your personal style.

The posters are in a PDF format (originally set for 8 ½ by 11 sheets) but they can easily be copied on a school or store Poster-Maker to convert to a large sized poster. You can then place the visual somewhere near your PE exit door at a level that students can easily touch an activity that they will do later that day.
