LET YOUR STUDENTS CHOOSE A WINTER ACTIVITY TO DO AT HOME!

This colorful Home Winter Activity- Exit Check Poster was created to give your students an opportunity to purposely identify and later participate in a physical activity when they are at home or out in their community. Students simply touch one of the activities on the visual as the exit PE class. The act of touching the activity will help ensure that outside movement becomes a part of their lives. This visual was INSPIRED from an idea (class video on Twitter) by Mark Jungmann, a physical education teacher from Iowa.

SHAPE America Standard 5 states that the physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. This Home Winter Activity Exit Check visual has a direct correlation to Standard 5 by giving students the chance to indicate an outside winter physical activity that they might enjoy doing when they get home.

The poster can also “spark” a conversation with students about the vast ways we as physical educators want them to “MOVE THEIR BODIES” at home during the cold, winter months. The examples, in the poster, were used to align with the SHAPE standards and the graphics are fun for students to look at! The PDF file includes 5 different header colors to match your school’s gym colors or your personal style.

The posters are in a PDF format (originally set for 8 ½ by 11 sheets) but they can easily be copied on a school or store Poster-Maker to convert to a large sized poster. You can then place the visual somewhere near your PE exit door at a level that students can easily touch an activity that they will do later that day.
