MOVEMENT IN THE CLASSROOM HELPS BOOST ACADEMIC LEARNING!

This colorful Classroom Movement Poster was created to give your students a visual that highlights some healthy movements they can easily do in the classroom setting. Classroom teachers can use the poster in their classrooms as a visual reference for Energizers or Brain Boosts. PE teachers can use it as a PE exit check where students can touch one or a few of the movements as the exit PE class. By touching the movement as they exit, they are promising that they will do the exercise in the classroom sometime throughout the day. They can perform the movement when they have a break or during an indoor recess.

SHAPE America Standard 5 states that the physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. This Classroom Movement Poster visual has a direct correlation to Standard 5 by giving students the chance to indicate physical activity that they can do outside the PE environment. It also provides examples for classroom teachers to help get their students moving during the day.

The poster can also “spark” a conversation with students and teachers about the many positive benefits that exist when students are active inside and outside of the school environment. The example movements used in the poster compliment the SHAPE standards and the graphics are fun for students to look at! The PDF file includes 5 different header colors to match your school’s gym colors or your personal style.

The posters are in a PDF format (originally set for 8 ½ by 11 sheets) but they can easily be copied on a school or store Poster-Maker to convert to a large sized poster. You can then place the visual on a bulletin board or somewhere near your PE entrance/exit door.
